Applicants must meet the general requirements for admission to graduate studies at Fairmont State University: 

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of

  • Official transcripts from all previous institutions
  • Letters of recommendation

For applicants without a degree in Natural Sciences or Engineering: If you are applying from a non-science or non-engineering background, you may be required to complete foundational coursework in areas such as: 

  • General Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Environmental Science
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Note: These courses are not required for admission. Students who meet general admission criteria may be accepted into the program and complete any prerequisite coursework as part of their degree plan.
