To better support faculty through promotion and tenure, highlight faculty accomplishments, decrease redundancies in accreditation reporting, and increase the ease of workflows, Fairmont State utilizes Faculty Success, a web-based application available to faculty through my.fairmontstate.edu. This tool serves as a one-stop-shop for faculty to record their academic and professional activities, customize CVs, and record their workload and allows deans and chairs to conduct faculty evaluations through one unified process.
You should complete as many sections relevant to your academic and professional activities as possible. Please refer to your chair or dean for more guidance.
Please review this step-by-step guide to inputting information into each section for Activities.
To support the University’s ability to consistently and concisely report to accreditors and the public on critical aspects of faculty activity, all faculty regardless of rank and/or tenure should complete the Activities section. Adjuncts should also utilize the Activities section as directed by their chair or dean. Some information is auto-populated into given fields in order to limit the amount of time and effort spent in the area for all instructors.
Faculty are provided with workflow milestones from their dean and/or chair for evaluations in Faculty Success in the upcoming academic year by the early Fall semester of a given academic year. In general, faculty complete a self-evaluation by the early Spring semester. That evaluation is automatically forwarded to the chair and dean for comment, and then to the Provost. Once that feedback is compiled, the faculty member meets with their dean and/or chair to review the feedback from those parties. Recommendations for hire, promotion, tenure, and/or continuation of contract are typically communicated to the Board of Governors by March of every academic year.
Yes! You are very welcome and encouraged to do so. Please refer to your dean and/or chair for more information.
Yes! Once you have inputted information you wish to have on your CV into Faculty Success, click Rapid Reports, and then Vita to produce your CV as a Word document on which you can make additional edits.

Course evaluations provide students with the opportunity to provide critical feedback to faculty on their courses. The University takes these evaluations seriously. Faculty and administrators engaged in improving students’ learning use student feedback to enhance their own teaching, improve future course quality, and augment students’ overall learning experiences across curricula and course modalities.
End-of-semester course evaluations are made available to all students enrolled in a creditable Fairmont State University class. All evaluations are administered online through Course Evaluations & Surveys, and can also be accessed through Blackboard. The University no longer employs paper course evaluations.
