Primary Policy Governing Use of the Fairmont State Website:

1. There will be only one Fairmont State University Home Page. The Fairmont State University Home Page will include references (links) to web pages created and supported by its colleges. schools, departments, administrative areas, officially recognized university organizations, and appropriate off-campus sites

2. College and school deans, department chairs, senior administrators, officially recognized university organizations, and appropriate off-campus sites that maintain Fairmont State related web pages are responsible for web pages representing their organizational area.

3. Those responsible for official institutional web pages are also responsible for ensuring that the information on their Web pages, including links to outside resources, is valid, current, and appropriate to the goals and purposes of their organization and Fairmont State University.

4. The management of the Fairmont State website is the responsibility of the Assistant to the President's Office of Web and Graphic Communications.

5. Web information offered by an organization identified with Fairmont State should be accurate. All personal opinions should be clearly labeled as such; and advertisements or other information presented for personal financial gain or profit are strictly prohibited.

6. These policies will not be used to abridge academic freedom or constitutional guarantees of free speech.
