Tobacco Cessation

Students may call the WV Tobacco Quit Line 1-877-966-8784 for help.

Participants of the Quit Line are eligible to receive the following services:

  • Nicoting patches - up to 8 weeks
  • Educational mailings
  • Phone coaching
  • Quit Line staff available for questions Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Process

     First call the Quit Line at 1-877-966-8784.  A trained Tobacco Cessation Specialist will assist in determining the services best for the participant and complete the enrollment process by asking a series of questions.  Participants are screened for desire and motivation and must be willing to commit to the program.  Educational materials are mailed within two business days of enrollment.

 

Free Patches

     The waiver enclosed in the educational mailing must be completed and returned to the Quit Line with a copy of identification for age verification.  Enrollee must provide a photocopy of student ID.  If necessary, physician's consent will be obtained by the Quit Line staff.  A phone coach will contact the participant for further support, motivation and education.  Evaluation is conducted six months after enrollment to determine quit rates and program satisfaction.
