A minimum of 3 children must be enrolled in each class in order to have the class as scheduled*

$55/per child



Registration:
First chance to sign up will be on
Monday, August 31st at 6:30pm - Falcon Center Conference Room (3rd Floor)

Registration will begin shortly after a Parent Orientation to Swimming Presentation. 
Registration by phone will begin starting Tuesday, Sept 1st.
(waiting to register by phone may result in all slots being filled from the night before)

*We reserve the right to promote & demote children to different swim levels based on their swimming abilities for safety & liability.


SWIMMING LESSON LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS

Learn-To-Swim Level 1 Water Exploration (recommended ages 6+):
The objective of Level 1 is to learn water safety information and skills, to help participants feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely.

Learn-To-Swim Level 2 Primary Skills (recommended ages 6+):
The objective of Level 2 is to give students success with fundamental skills. Students learn to float without support and to recover to a vertical position.

Learn-To-Swim Level 3 Stroke Readiness (recommended ages 6+):
The objective of Level 3 is to build on skills previously learned by providing additional guided practice.  The participants will learn survival float, swim from crawl and elementary back stroke.  Successful completion of Level 2 is required.

Learn-To-Swim Level 4 Stroke Development (recommended ages 6+):
The objective of Level 4 is to develop participants confidence in the strokes learned thus far and to improve other aquatic skills. In level 4, participants improve their skills and increase endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl, elementary backstroke) for greater distance.  Successful completion of Level 3 is required.

Learn-To-Swim Level 5 - Stroke Refinement (recommended ages 6+):
The objectives of Level 5 are coordination and refinement of strokes.  Participants refine their performance of all strokes (front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and side stroke) and increase their distances.  Successful completion of Level 4 is required.

Learn-To-Swim Level 6 - Swimming & Skill Proficiency (recommended ages 6+):
The objective of this level are to refine strokes so participants swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness and over greater distances.  Level 6 also provides other aquatic activities and offers three options- Personal Water Safety, Fundamentals of Diving and Fitness Swimmer.  Successful completion of Level 5 is required.

Preschool Aquatics 1 (recommended ages 4-5 years old):
In level 1, children learn elementary aquatic skills, which children continue to build on as they progress through the PreSchool Aquatics and Learn to Swim Levels.  At the 1st level, children start developing  good attitudes and safe practices around the water.

Preschool Aquatics 2 (recommended ages 4-5 years old):
The objectives of this level are to build on basic aquatic skills learned in level 1, and to give children further success with fundamental aquatic skills performed to a slightly more advanced degree.  This level marks  the beginning of independent aquatic locomotion skills.  Children continue to explore using simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to gain more proficiency for future strokes.

Preschool Aquatics 3 (recommended ages 4-5):
The objectives of this level are to build on the skills learned in level 1 and level 2 by providing additional guided practice of basic aquatic skills at a slightly more proficient performance levels and greater distances.  Skills in this level are performed  independently.   Children are taught to improve coordination of combined simultaneous arm and leg actions and alternating arm and leg actions.

Parent & Child Level A (recommended ages 6 months -3 years old):
This class introduces basic aquatic skills to parents and children.  Parents are taught to safely work with their child in the water, including how to appropriately support and hold their child in the water and how to prepare and encourage their child to participate fully and try the skill.  Children are introduced to basic skills  that lay a foundation to help them learn to swim.  Several water safety toys are also introduced that are directed to parents.

Parent & Child Level B (recommended ages 6 months -3 years old):
This class builds on the skills introduced in level 1.  Participants improve on these skills and learn more advanced skills.

Level Exceptions

  • If a child completes Parent and Child Aquatics Level 1 and is nearly 4 years old or older, he or she may be ready to enroll in Preschool Aquatics Level 1
  • If a child completes Parent and Child Aquatics Level 2, and is nearly 4 years old or older and can demonstrate the exit skills assessment of Preschool Aquatics Level 1, he or she may be ready to enroll in Preschool Aquatics Level 2

PRIVATE SWIMMING LESSONS

imageCan't make it in for a group swimming lesson?  Try one on one instruction by a certified lifeguard or bring a friend for a semi private lesson. Lessons will be scheduled around pool & instructor availability during recreational swim hours.
