The School of Nursing and Allied Health Administration offers two program options for the LPN-ASN degree. These programs are limited enrollment classes and applicants apply for these through the application procedure for the ASN program. Application deadline is December 1, but an earlier application is preferred.
The two options are the Traditional LPN-ASN and the Non-Traditional LPN-ASN.
Both programs
- Require 3 semesters of nursing course work.
- Mirror the Traditional ASN Program.
- The LPN with a valid LPN license receives credit for NURS 1101, Fundamentals of Nursing, (6 credits).
- The LPN must take NURS 1102, Transition for the LPN
- The LPN may challenge Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition & Normal OB.
Traditional Program Track
The Traditional Program is best for LPN’s who are new graduates of an LPN program and/or for LPN’s who do not have most of the required support courses ( ENGL 1104 and 1108, HLCA 1170 & 1171 -Anatomy & Physiology, FOSM 1110- Nutrition, PSYC 1101- Introduction to Psychology, SOCY 1110- Introductory Sociology) completed either through course work or challenge testing. Once accepted into this program, the student takes support courses, NURS 1100 and NURS 1102 in the fall semester and them matriculates into the traditional class in January.
Non-Traditional Program Track
The Non-Traditional program is best for experienced LPN’s who have completed most of their support courses for Nursing. The courses are taught through WIMBA and Blackboard allowing synchronous on-line classes and live instructor –student interaction without having to drive to campus. Clinicals are conducted two days each month. Students for this program must possess basic computer skills and have computer access. Class is limited to 24 students per year. The program starts each summer.
