‘How To’ Drawings

Completed in Elementary Art Education, these drawings example students use of multiple perspectives to tell a story in three parts.  Students spend time analyzing different comic images and brain storming a list of ‘How to’ events to use as subject matter.  After completing the drawings they narrate the story in text.

In these drawings students studying Art Education concentrated on the use of contour to create a drawing from an observed still life. When they were completed the class discussed the use of value in works of art and added luminous color using crayons.

 Collage

After learning about some of the elements of design students collected natural materials that related to shape, color, or line and created natural material collages in the campus quad.  After completion the class discussed the tradition of permanence in art while watching their collages rejoin the fallen leaves.

Students studying to receive certification in Art Education created these mythological creatures after learning about the paper mache process.  Each sculpture is based on the combination of at least two animals, a structural armature, and the use of painted patterns to create a patina.

This mural was created by Elementary Education students studying Art Education. They worked together to create variations of painted lines that show rhythm and movement across their paper. After, they practiced mixing tempera paint to produce a myriad of colors.
