High school seniors who will be attending either Pierpont Community & Technical College or Fairmont State University next year are invited to take their placement tests BEFORE they attend a registration day.
Nancy Parks, Director of Assessment and an Associate Professor at Pierpont Community & Technical College, says, "Students will feel less rushed and will have more time to tour the campus and talk to advisors if they have their testing done ahead of time. And the sooner they get to advising and schedule-building, the more seats there will be available in the classes they need and at the times they want. I really hope a lot of students take advantage of the opportunity to test early, and I encourage kids to come in pairs or groups of friends. It's not like the ACT: there are no time limits and they don't have to come in at 8:00 on a Saturday morning. Kids are welcome to come after school or on Faculty Senate days or even in the evenings if that's more convenient for them. All they need to do is contact me for an appointment."
In addition, Parks has made arrangements to provide walk-in testing on Tuesday, April 27, Wednesday, April 28, and Friday, April 30 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in 203 Jaynes Hall.
On Saturday, May 1, all high school seniors from Marion, Harrison, Taylor, and Monongalia Counties will be invited to attend an Early Registration/Orientation day. Students who can get their placement testing done before that day will have the time spent on campus that day cut in half. And that's important for a lot of students because many schools have their prom scheduled for that evening.
Students and parents interested in more information may contact Parks at 304-367-4990 or email her at Nancy.Parks@pierpont.edu if they have questions about their need for placement testing. Testing times are plentiful, and all testing is free.
