Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College will host a Campus Visitation Day on Saturday, Oct. 31. The event is designed for high school students and their families and adults who are deciding where to continue their education.

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform on the Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College main campus in Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in Colebank Hall.

A community forum to raise awareness about efforts being made in Marion County to fight H1N1 influenza is planned for Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Fairmont State University has named A.P. "Bun" Perkinson as Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc. He will begin his duties on Oct. 19.

Fairmont State University's FSU Reads program is preparing for the fall reading enrichment program for elementary school students, grades kindergarten through fourth. Sessions will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 5, and continue each Tuesday through Nov. 17 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church on the corner of Fairmont Avenue and Fourth Street in Fairmont.

As part of Fairmont State University's and Pierpont Community & Technical College's Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series and Homecoming 2009, alumnus Alieu Demba will speak on Thursday, Oct. 1.

The traditional Homecoming Parade for Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College presented by Student Government will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in downtown Fairmont. The parade is sponsored by the Times West Virginian.
