Fairmont State
Teacher Education

The theme, teacher as “Informed Decision-Maker: Impacting Tomorrow Through Education,”  recognizes that a teacher must be prepared to meet the complexities of classroom teaching by making informed, critical, and thoughtful decisions about the interaction of student, context, curriculum, and teacher.  Cognizant that the decisions chosen today will impact not only his or her students, but also the students of tomorrow and ultimately the world, the teacher must be confident that he or she is a fully informed and reflective practitioner.  For this reason, there is no better focus in teacher preparation than to provide teacher candidates with the knowledge and decision-making skills essential for planning instruction to ensure success in an ever-increasingly complex world.
