Students (8th grade Spanish Class) participated in Spanish classes, Spanish conversation in groups, and a Latin dance party. They also enjoyed Spanish crafts and food.
Good Things about the trip: This event was a rewarding and educational experience. Take part in every activity.

Students bought their own food. Breakfast at McDonald's, Dinner at Cool Springs Park. Snacks were available on the train.
This train ride consisted of a 3 hour narrated excursion along the South Branch of the Potomac River. Students sighted American Bald Eagles and their nests. Students gained knowledge about the Civil War.
Good Things about the trip: It was thrilling to see American Bald Eagles in their natural habitat. A trip in early July is when the eagles are teaching their babies to fly.

The purpose of the trip was to educate students on the programs available at Davis College/WVU.
There were several great things: Facilities were open to tour; a new media presentation; WVU game with great seats!
Some difficulties we encountered: Poor directions; no refunds; bus parking was very far away from the game and we weren't asked if had we physically handicapped children; we needed more information prior to the trip to plan lessons and activities to accompany the trip.

Admission was $5.00 per student. Transportation by school bus. Lunch at Burger King - students bought their own food.
The participants toured the entire zoo. They observed and learned about the animals and their habitats. We recommend you see everything. It will be well worth your time. This was an excellent trip.
We applied what we learned about animal behavior and habitats to an academic lesson.

The tour itself was free. Transportation was by county bus. Students took a bagged lunch. Field trip included a tour of West Virginia University; PRT, Stadium, Theatre, Student Rec Center and Mountainlair. We wouldn't want to have missed anything on the trip.
We used an internet search of the West Virginia University web site to apply the trip to an academic lesson. The evaluation form was our written assignment for the field trip.

Activities took place at the zoo and in a classroom. Dealt with the effects of pesticides on animals, their habitats and their food. Students were introduced to an iguana, opossum, crocodile and a Madagascar hissing cockroach. Everything was well worth the time and money. Students and chaperones were impressed with the hands on activities. Train ride was OK.
