Welcome to the Center for Teaching Excellence

Established in 2002, the Fairmont State Foundation Center for Teaching Excellence serves full-time and adjunct faculty associated with Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College of Fairmont State University at the various campuses.

The primary purpose of the Center is to support faculty in their endeavors to improve the quality of their teaching. The Center seeks, also, to foster a collegial environment in which faculty can comfortably engage in professional dialogue focused on helping them achieve their full potentials as teachers and scholars.

Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks
 and just watch the river flow by;
instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water. Through an active, reciprocal exchange,
teaching can strengthen learning how to learn.
