FAIRMONT STATE COUNTS
FAIRMONT STATE’S FREE MATH TUTORING PROGRAM
Fairmont State Counts is a free math tutoring program offered to students grades 4th thru 8th on the Fairmont State University campus. The program is sponsored by Fairmont State. It is structured to concentrate on specific math difficulties students are experiencing and to help with math homework.
Fairmont State Counts is supervised by Pam Kabulski, Marion County math teacher, and coordinated by Donna Yergovich Nuzum, Director of Center for Civic Engagement.
Fairmont State and Pierpont student tutors, proficient in math, aid children in developing their math skills. The tutors work with a maximum of four children per group. Mrs. Kabulski is present to assist each tutor and student. She reports, "The students benefit greatly from the small group instruction and support they receive from their tutors."
The one hour / once a week sessions are held for eight weeks, during the fall and spring semesters. Pre-registration is begun the first week of September for the fall sessions and the first week of February for the spring sessions.
Pre-registration is necessary for participation.
Once students are pre-registared, parents/guardians will be notified of locations of the sessions.
If you have questions or want to register, call (304) 367-4579.
Students are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are limited slots available, so please register ASAP beginning on the dates stated above.
