I have taught math courses for Fairmont State in the capacity of Adjunct faculty member since 1987 and currently as full time since 2006. I am a graduate of Fairmont State with an B.A. in Education with teaching fields of Mathematics and Journalism. I received an M.S. in Mathematics from West Virginia University. I taught mathematics at Fairmont Senior High School for ten years, before resigning to raise my children. In 2012, I was honored as Outstanding College Teacher of the Year by the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
I am the secretary for the West Virginia State Math Field Day Organization and teach at SM2 Math Camp – a summer math enrichment camp for students in grades 5-9.
Students are not the only learners in the classroom.
I employ a variety visual aids, teaching techniques, and activities to explain why math concepts are true and to address various learning styles. I attempt to make each class a worthwhile learning experience and to share my enthusiasm for mathematics.
