The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is a national organization made up of students and professionals interested in the civil engineering field.
The Fairmont State University ASCE Student Chapter is devoted to promoting student learning, experience, and connections in the field. General chapter meetings are held in Room 206 of the Engineering Technology Building (ET) every other Tuesday. The chapter fosters professional, social, and service activities.
Fairmont State's offers 2 and 4 year degrees in Civil Engineering Technology which are both TAC/ABET accredited. Students in the 4-year program are eligible to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam in their senior year and can become registered Professional Engineers (PE). Students in the 2-year program typically work at a technician level.
The civil engineering program is a civil engineering technology degree, as opposed to a civil engineering science degree. This means that we focus more on application, and less on theory.
