Exploration Days

Thank you for visiting the Exploration Day site!

While no Exploration Day programs remain for the Spring 2012 semester, programs will kick-off again in the Fall.  Please revisit our site in mid-August to sign up for the Fall 2012 Exploration Day of your choice.  In the meantime, please find below a description of the Exploration Day program.

The Office of Admissions & Recruitment invites you and your family to explore your options at Fairmont State University.  On select Fridays throughout the regular semester, academic-based Exploration Days will be held on the campus in Fairmont, WV.  Exploration Days are an excellent opportunity for families to visit and experience our campus in full-swing. 

Exploration Days will begin promptly at 9:00 am and can be expected to wrap up early afternoon (approximately 1:00 - 1:30 pm, depending on which optional services each family chooses to take advantage of).  Students and their familiy members will attend an admissions presentation upon arrival (refreshments will be provided) and will enjoy complimentary lunch in our dining hall around 11:00 am. The highlight of Exploration Days is the departmental visit, which will take place prior to lunch.  The departmentla visit includes an opportunity for famlies to meet in small groups with facutly and/or academic deans.  Spending time in the academic department a student is most interested in is a significant value and will aid the student greatly in decision-making.  While the academic-focused departmental visits are a featured component of Fairmont State Exploration Days, we are also excited to offer campus tours to those who are interested.  In addition, families will be welcome after lunch to visit Enrollment Services offices (such as Admissions, Financial Aid, and Housing) as needed before departing.
