Biography:
I've been teaching at Fairmont State since 1997 and joined the full-time faculty in 2001. I hold degrees from Fairmont State College (B.A. in Theatre, with a minor in Architectural Technology) and West Virginia University (M.F.A in Theatre) and am currently completing my Ed.D. in Educational Psychology at West Virginia University. I have taught on both the high school and college levels. I began my design career in Theatre and Architectural Technology and now have a really broad base of design experience, which includes the areas of Scenery, Lighting, Costuming, Prosthetic Makeup and Graphics. I am a member of the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA) and my teaching area is currently Graphics. At Fairmont State my teaching responsibilities include courses in Graphic Design, Software and Animation. I teach graphics software programs such as Macromedia Flash, Freehand, Fireworks and Dreamweaver, as well as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and others. I am also very involved in online learning and serve as a faculty mentor for WEBCT Vista and have developed five fully online asynchronous courses for delivery at Fairmont State including Architecture History I and II, Introduction to Desktop Publishing, Computer Animation/Multimedia and Digital Prepress.
What have you learned while teaching at Fairmont State?:
I have re-affirmed to myself that teaching can be a very rewarding and exciting profession.
What do students like best about your class?:
I would hope they enjoy my enthusiasm for design and my accessibility and availability to them.
