Spring Orientation – For Students Enrolling in Spring 2008

Spring Orientation, scheduled for Friday, January 11, 2008, is a comprehensive, half-day program designed for incoming freshmen, transfer and readmitted students. The Orientation program is relevant to all student types and is highly informative. During Orientation, students and parents will learn about the institution’s important calendars, offices, policies and procedures. Information will be shared in regards to billing and Financial Aid and all other issues important to both on and off campus students.

Each Orientation attendee will have the opportunity to activate his or her student email account, secure a photo ID card, receive a parking pass and much, much more. While students who plan to enroll in the spring term are welcome to schedule classes in advance, placements assessments, advising and scheduling will be offered during Orientation.

Each newly admitted student has received an invitation to Orientation by mail, which offers instruction to RSVP for the program.  Any student who wishes to RSVP for the program or who has further questions should contact the Office of Admissions (see below).

Summer Orientation – For Students Enrolling in Fall 2008

Fairmont State’s New Student Orientation is a comprehensive, one-day program intended for incoming freshmen, transfer and readmitted students, as well as parents and/or guardians. All new students are expected to attend Orientation, a vital first step into collegiate life. Some dates are tailored for transferring, readmitted and nontraditional students. From high school senior to senior citizen, we have an orientation program for you.

During Orientation, each incoming student will consult with an academic advisor, schedule and register for classes, activate his or her student email account, secure a photo ID card and much, much more. Orientation attendees will become familiar with the entire campus and all of its services, from residence halls to the bookstore and from financial aid to public safety. New students and parents will learn about the institution’s important calendars, offices, policies and procedures and will also meet Fairmont State students, faculty, staff and administrators.

Each newly admitted student will automatically receive an Orientation reservation form by mail, which will offer instruction to RSVP for the program.  Orientation programs occur prior to each academic semester. And, for the convenience of those students enrolling in the fall semester, Orientation is offered at various times throughout the summer months. 2008 - 2009 Orientation dates will be released in the near future - please watch the website for updates.
