GRADUATION INFORMATION

This page will contain information pertaining to several graduation dates. Please check this site often as changes will be reflected here.

Deadlines to apply for graduation:

Graduation Date: December 2007 May 2008 August 2008 December 2008 May 2009

Apply Deadline: January 26, 2007 August 31, 2007 May 30, 2008 January 30, 2008 September 5, 2008

To apply for graduation, please come to the Student Services Center in 248 Hardway Hall.  You will need to complete the graduation application, pay the graduation fee (if you have not already done so) and make an appointment for your degree audit. 

Graduation Fees:

Graduate Students - $70.00
Undergraduate Students - $50.00

A late graduation application fee of $50.00 will be assessed beginning the day after the deadline to apply for graduation.

Degree Audit Appointments:

It is important to apply early or by the deadline for graduation and to complete your degree audit appointment to make sure that you are ready to graduate.

To schedule an appointment, please call 367- 4142 and ask for Stephanie or stop in 308 Hardway Hall.

Degree Audit Appointments for May 2008 Graduates:   June 26, 2007 - August 17, 2007 and September 4, 2007 - November 8, 2007
Degree Audit Appointments for December/August 2008 Graduates:  February 5, 2008 - April 10, 2008 and June 24, 2008 - August 15, 2008
Degree Audit Appointments for May 2009 Graduates:  August 26, 2008 - November 6, 2008

May 2008 Graduation Notes

Commencement information will be mailed or can be picked up in room 308 Hardway Hall the week of February 4, 2008.

• Commencement is May 10 at 1:00 pm in the Feaster Center.
• Mandatory rehearsal will be at 8:30 am on May 10 in the Feaster Center (rehearsal is mandatory).
• In order to participate in the ceremony, the Graduation Ceremony Reply Form must be returned to the Registrar’s Office in 248 Hardway Hall by Friday, March 21, 2008.
• If you change your plans and decide not to participate in the ceremony at any time after you have submitted the Reply Form, please contact the Registrar's Office at 304-367-4659 or email sgripper@fairmontstate.edu.
• To order a cop and gown (no additional charge), you must contact the Bookstore and complete the order form by Friday, March 20, 2008.  If you are in the Honors Program, please indicate this on the form by writing 'Honors Program'.  If you order your cap and gown after this deadline, you will pay a late fee to the Bookstore. 
• Caps and gowns will be available for pick up on Wednesday, May 7.  You will need your ID to pick up your cap and gown.
• The Bookstore will be open Friday, May 9th until 5:00 pm and Saturday, May 10th from noon until 5:30 pm.
• Commencement attire is semi-formal; gowns are black, shoes and slacks should be a dark color as well.
• Tickets are not required for the ceremony or reception.
• A reception will follow Commencement for all graduates and families.  Refreshments will be served at the Falcon Center Gym 1.
• Diplomas will begin to be mailed to graduates receiving awarded degrees after June 16, 2008.
