WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY

Fairmont State's Department of Public Safety has three major areas of responsibility: Law Enforcement, Parking, Environmental Health and Safety.

The campus police section provides law enforcement and security services. The department's four sworn police officers have all received police training and annually attend in-service training. This section also includes eighteen to twenty four student security personnel.

The student security section provides parking assistance, escort service and a walking patrol of the main campus.

This department is also responsible for parking on campus, including issuing permits and enforcing parking regulations. The department has six Traffic Control Assistances. The Department also has responsibility of Occupational Safety, including Fire Safety, Hazardous Materials, Hazard Communication, Emergency Planning and Preparedness and Worker's Compensation.

This department's main goal is to promote a safe, secure and orderly learning environment for students, employees as well as visitors.
