Biology Program Goals
In order to prepare our students for employment or for obtaining future advanced degrees in biological sciences, our students should be able to:
1. Acquire, apply and communicate a broad knowledge of biological concepts to problems in coursework, research opportunities, and continued life-long learning that involves becoming a healthy, active citizens in a diverse society
2. Locate, read, and critically evaluate scientific literature and resources in order to express oneself scientifically in speech and writing
3. Appreciate viewpoints and deal with complex issues of others through multi- and inter-disciplinary inquiry
4. Have confidence in their own continual learning in the biological sciences which results in students that can clearly state learned ideas and opinions
5. Have an opportunity to participate in research to develop a variety of vital skills essential in the pursuit of biological knowledge by developing and utilizing intellectual, laboratory, field, and/or technical skills required for comprehending and conducting biological research
