Welcome to the School of Education. As Dean of Teacher Education, I am pleased you have taken the opportunity to visit our web site. Our educator preparation programs have a long tradition and an excellent reputation in the state, region, and nation. Over 1,000 students enroll in our programs and if you are a prospective student, we would like to assist you in joining us. You will receive an education from a faculty of caring and interested professionals who will facilitate you in attaining your personal and professional goals.

The School of Education is responsible for providing the professional education component for all programs at Fairmont State. The Health and Human Performance Department, in addition to operating teaching programs for Physical Education and Health, also offers traditional non-teaching majors and minors in those areas. Our theme of becoming an “Informed Decision Maker" recognizes that a teacher prepared to meet the complexities of classroom teaching must be able to make informed, critical, and thoughtful decisions about the interaction among student, context, curriculum, and teacher.
