REGENTS BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE PROGRAM -
The Regents Bachelor of Arts (RBA) Degree Program is a flexible, nontraditional academic program is designed for adults in the belief that they are distinctly different in their educational needs and pursuits. The program can be tailored to fit those who need a degree for career advancement, those who have an associate degree in a field for which there is no corresponding baccalaureate degree available, or those who seek intellectual development and personal fulfillment. The degree has particular appeal for persons who completed some college work in past years but did not obtain a degree.
Applicants are eligible for admission to the RBA four years after graduation from high school. There is no fee for admission; however, a separate admissions application is required and available from the office of the coordinator. If an applicant has previous college credit, grades of F received four or more years before admission to the RBA Program are disregarded. Requirements are as follows:
128 - Total Semester Hours
40 - Upper Division Hours (3300-4400 level)
36 - General Education Hours with minimums in specific areas of:
Communications, Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Math or Computer Applications. Nine hours of general education elective hours complete this requirement. (See model schedule)
There is no major required. The program can be tailored to meet individual needs. A GPA of 2.00 or a C average is required. Students must complete 24 semester hours in a college or university in the West Virginia State System.
Students may enroll in the RBA Degree Program any time during the year. Contact the RBA Advisor for information and assistance. All official college transcripts should be forwarded to the Program Advisor, 353 Education Building. An appointment with the advisor is required prior to enrollment to discuss program requirements, transcript evaluations, and possible portfolio procedures. Brochures and appointments are available by calling The Office of the RBA Advisor, 367-4193, or email: jwatts@fairmontstate.edu.
