Welcome to the Clinical Experiences program at Fairmont State University.  You are about to embark on a life-long journey into the rewarding work of teaching.  The field experience component of the teacher preparation program emphasizes the importance of actual classroom experience as a foundation for professional knowledge and as a means to learn about the teaching profession.  Clinical experiences also provide the opportunity for students to link research, theory, and practice to a "real-world" setting.

The Clinical Experience office makes placements based on strict guidelines as mandated by the West Virginia Department of Education to assure the most effective experience for students and for our partner schools.  Candidates are expected to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to become professional educators.

Whether you have wanted  to be a teacher ever since you can remember, or have only now begun to see teaching as a suitable career for you, the clinical experiences required by your education courses will provide you with opportunities to explore the profession in a practical, hands-on way.

Please continue to visit this site as we update the links which provide information for placements.

If I can be of assistance to you during this phase of our program, please do not hesitate to contact me.
