Mission of the Transportation Academy
The core objective of the Transportation Academy is to develop highly skilled technicians and technologists to service the highway engineering and construction industries. This initiative has been established in a cooperative effort between state government, private industry and academia. This mission is accomplished through the Center for Certification, Center for Continuing Education and the Center for Academic Excellence. These Centers provide the highway technician a career path with professional development opportunities and a formal education that is measured and evaluated through the certification process.
