BONNIE FREEMAN
Title: Temporary Research Assistant
Department: Biology, Chemistry, GeoScience
Biography: Like so many Fairmont State students I too grew up in a small West Virginia town. I have received two degrees from Fairmont State. The first is an Associate degree in Veterinary Technology in 2000 and the second, a Bachelor Degree in Biology in 2005. I have been working in Dr. Mark Flood’s research lab since graduation. This year I will be continuing this work as a full-time staff member of FSU. The research program is funded by a WVINBRE grant awarded to Dr. Mark Flood. Although meticulous, I love the research that we are completing. I also enjoy maintaining a beautiful flower garden, my dogs, and my friends at Fairmont State.
What have you learned during your time at Fairmont State? Among the various challenges and trials that are accompanied with operating a lab, I look forward to learning how our research may impact cardiovascular disease.
What do you like best about working at Fairmont State? I appreciate the opportunity to be able to work with colleagues that were also fellow students during the time I finished my B.S. degree at Fairmont State. I am also grateful for the chance to work with my mentor and firend Dr. Mark Flood.
