Welcome!
The Gaston Caperton Center is a regional campus facility located at 501 West Main Street in downtown Clarksburg, the county seat of Harrison County. The Center serves as a site for delivery of courses for students enrolled in Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College. The Center serves approximately 1,100 students each week with a current full-time equivalency of 650 students.
Course offerings allow students to complete the general studies requirements for all Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees. In addition, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in General Business can be pursued in its entirety at the Caperton Center. Students may also acquire Associate Degrees in General Business, Accounting, General Studies, and Physical Therapist Assistant. Varied course offerings allow students to make progress toward degree completion in several academic areas. The Center also hosts Weekend College and dual-enrollment courses (high-school students taking college courses).
The Center is housed in a 36,000-square-foot facility which consists of 15 classrooms--including three computer labs, two science labs, a physical-therapy-assistant lab, general meeting rooms, and a full-service library. Over one hundred computers are available for instruction and general student use. In addition to courtesy Internet ports, wireless Internet access is available throughout the building. Common areas include two student lounge areas, one faculty lounge, a portico seating area, and an adjacent walled courtyard area with bench and wall seating.
With dedicated full and part-time faculty, modern classroom and instructional-support facilities, easy access, and a steady increase in student numbers, the Gaston Caperton Center continues to be a focal point of higher education in the greater Harrison County area. We invite you to make the Gaston Caperton Center "Your University in Clarksburg!"
