Satisfactory student performance on the direct assessment measure will consist of:

1. Reach the fourth level of proficiency guidelines adapted from the ACTFL standards for writing and speaking world languages. Students operate at the level of extended discourse and argumentation, and can be understood easily by native speakers of French, even those who are unaccustomed to the speech and writing of non-native speakers.    Entrance Exam
   Interview at the end of four semesters
   Annual online language lab proficiency tests
   Exit Exam with Interview
 
2. Recognize areas of the world where French is spoken and demonstrate knowledge of the diverse contributions Francophones make to local and global cultures

3. Understand the history and contemporary realities of French in the world  Research and Writing Portfolio

Feedback process for using data

The French coordinator will report back to the assessment committee regarding results. The committee will designate outcomes to be assessed during a given term and offer feedback to the French program, based on our shared understanding of pedagogical strategies and experience in the classroom.
