Fairmont State announces John W. Nisbet as Interim Vice President of Finance & Administration/CFO
Fairmont State University is pleased to announce the appointment of John W. Nisbet
as Interim Vice President of Finance & Administration/Chief Financial Officer (CFO),
effective May 13. Nisbet joins Fairmont State following the departure of longtime
VP/CFO Christa Kwiatkowski. He will serve in this capacity while the University searches
for a permanent replacement.
With more than 25 years in higher education and healthcare, Nisbet brings a wealth of experience.
“This position is essential to Fairmont State’s operations. We are fortunate to have someone with Mr. Nisbet’s vast expertise and knowledge fill this role as we search for a permanent Vice President/CFO,” said President Mike Davis. “Until then, I have no doubt that Mr. Nisbet will do an exceptional job of overseeing our financial and administrative services.”
Prior to opening his consulting firm in 2022, Nisbet served as Vice President for Business Affairs/CFO of Saint Leo University, guiding financial strategy, budgeting, and performance transformation. Before that, he was Vice President for Finance/CFO pf Creighton University, where he oversaw a robust operating budget and a large team of employees.
Nisbet’s impressive career also includes key roles at The Ohio State University, University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, and The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, where he showcased his strengths in managing operations, finance, and strategy.
“I’m really delighted to join President Davis and the Fairmont State community, which has been very successful in serving students and the region,” said Nisbet. “I was born in West Virginia, and very much looking forward to returning to serve in this interim role.”
Nisbet holds a Master of Business Administration specialized in Corporate Finance from The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, a Master of Science in Molecular and Cellular Physiology from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology/Animal Biology from The Ohio State University.
In addition to an elite educational and professional track record, John also has a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from OhioHealth, adding expertise in process improvement to his portfolio.
