New Student Checklist

We want to be sure that you start out your first-year on the right foot so we have provided this checklist to be sure you have completed everything needed for you to become a Falcon.

Before Acceptance

(September – November)

1. Apply (paper or online)

2. Submit Official High School and/or College Transcripts

  • Sent directly from high school or college/university
  • If transferring, high school transcript is only needed if transferring fewer than 24 credit hours.

3. Submit Official ACT and or SAT scores

  • If transferring, only needed if transferring fewer than 24 credit hours

4. Submit Immunization Records (measles, mumps, and rubella - MMR)

5. Complete FAFSA (Beginning October 1)

  • www.fafsa.gov
  • Fairmont State University FAFSA code – 003812
  • Submission Date by – March 1, 2018
  • If selected for financial aid verification, submit required documentation

***Last day to be admitted – August 1, 2018

***To be eligible for Fairmont State Scholarships, you must have a completed Admissions file by February 1, 2018

After Acceptance

(December – May)

6. Activate UCA and Password (including your student email account, check-out these how-to guides on setting up your e-mail on your phone whether it is an Android or iPhone)

7. Housing Application (Can only be completed once accepted)        

  • Submit deposit - $200 via Housing Application, over the phone, or in person  
  • Deposit is nonrefundable after May 31 for fall applications, November 30 for spring applications
  • Written notification of cancellation must be submitted to the Office of Residence Life (reslife@fairmontstate.edu) prior to the deadline in order to receive a full refund of the $200 deposit.

Last Steps

(April – August)

8. Schedule an Orientation

  • Schedule classes
  • Important information from different departments (Financial Aid, Housing, etc.)
  • Receive student I.D.

9. RSVP for Welcome Weekend

  • Attend important Academic School/College Orientation
  • Recieve your Parking Pass
  • Participate in activities that will acclimate you to the University and your fellow students

10. Register to participate in the required FYE Passport

  • Once you register, you will recieve the information you need sign-up for the Guidebook app
  • Pick your five FYE Passport activities listed in the Guidebook app or at the Guidebook website
  • Attend 5 activities and submit your quick reflection about the activities you attend.
