West Virginia Symphony Orchestra returns to Fairmont State University Feb. 26

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform on the Fairmont State University campus in Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 26, in Colebank Hall.
The concert, under the direction of Grant Cooper, Artistic Director & Conductor of the WVSO, will include Symphony No. 5, by Franz Schubert, and Symphony No. 6, by Gustav Mahler.

Auditions Planned for Production of "It's a Wonderful Life"

Fairmont State University’s Town and Gown Theatre is scheduling auditions for a reader’s theatre production of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

Auditions will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 10 and 11, in Wallman Hall on the Fairmont State campus. The production will be performed on Dec. 5 through 14 on the FSU campus and other venues in the area.

Theatre Student Selected for Disney College Internship

A Fairmont State University student has been selected for an internship under the Disney College Program.

Erika A. Johnson, a junior at Fairmont State and a member of the Honors Program, is majoring in Theatre. The internship runs from Aug. 1, 2014, through Jan. 7, 2015. As part of the internship, Johnson will complete a three-credit class along with work in the Costuming Department.

Since then, the WVSO has been creating a lasting impact on Fairmont State University’s campus and in the community as a result of a very collaborative partnership.

In celebration of Fairmont State University’s Sesquicentennial this year, the FSU Theatre Program is presenting a season of plays taken from the Masquers history.

The first show of the 2015-2016 season is “The Boy Friend,” first produced at Fairmont State in 1959 and directed by Jo Ann Lough.
