Theatre and Acting Classes

Let's Act

Tuesday: 5-6 pm

Acting class that explores the various aspects of acting and theatre.  Students will learn various techniques used for warm ups, auditions, and mostly on acting.  'Let's Act' is based off the principal of 'acting is believing' and inspired by a theatre game.   An overall goal of a short play/sketch will be presented.

 

Lets Act 2 

Tuesdays: 6-7pm

Lets Act 2 is a follow up acting class that explores the various aspects theatre.   Students who have taken 'Lets Act' previously are eligible to take this advanced class.  The class will reexamine, emphasize and include advance acting techniques.    An overall goal of a short play/sketch or readers theatre will be presented.  

 

Kid Prov

Thursdays 5-6 pm

3rd- 8th Graders

Kid Prov is for kids 3rd grade through 8th exploring the fun and challenges of improv. Through various games and techniques, children will learn the basics of improv and how it can be fully utilized as actors. Together an ensemble improv team will be formed consisting of past and new students.  The overall goal is to have an ongoing team to build and perform in various forms, including Academy of the Arts recitals.

 

Puppetry – Create & Tell – Childhood Favorites!

Ages: 8-12 year olds

Price: $100 & ($20 for course materials paid directly to the instructor)

Time: 6 Weeks, Starting January 8th

 Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm

Join us as we learn about different types of puppetry and storytelling! We will be bringing in our favorite childhood books, and turning them into performance ready pieces with puppetry. Create and take home all arts and crafts! At the end of the class term, join us for a final performance as we bring to life our favorite stories! (All materials will be provided by the instructor)

 

Puppetry – Create & Tell – Make Your Own Story!

Ages: 6-10 year olds

Have you ever wanted to create your own story but you didn’t know how? Join us as we tackle storytelling with puppetry in a fun and interactive experience! We will be learning about puppetry and all of its forms, while crafting different puppets. As a group we will create a story with puppets that will be performed at the end of the class term! (All materials will be provided by the instructor)

 

Creative Drama – Performance 101

Ages:  6-8 year olds

Price: $100

Time: 6 Weeks, Starting January 9th

 Wednesdays 4:30pm-5:30pm

Have you ever wanted to create your own play and have the chance to act in it? Come join us as we create a script together that will be turned into a performance! We will be creating our performance to go along with our script!

Ages: 8-10 year olds

Are you interested in theatre and acting, but you’re not sure how to get your foot in the door? Well join us as we learn about theatre games, audition pieces, and crafting while also creating our own script! We will learn about the steps it takes to get from script to stage in a fun environment!

 

Creative Drama – Let’s Adventure to Where the Wild Things Are!

Ages: 3-5 year olds

Price: $55

Time: 3 Weeks, Starting January 10th

 Thursdays 4:30pm – 5:15pm

Join us as we look at childhood favorite Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak! We’ll follow Max as he travels from his bedroom to the land of Wild Things! We will explore with sights, sound, and movement as we follow along with this popular story!

 

Let’s Dance! Musical Theatre Edition

5th-8th grade

Dive into character development through dance! You will learn the basic steps of dance that almost every musical has. Experience what it’s like to dance like a Broadway star! You’ll not only become a better dancer, but you will improve your acting, flexibility, character work, ensemble building, and coordination.

Come Prepared:
Wear comfortable and moveable clothing
​No dresses or skirts
​Bring jazz shoes, character shoes, or tennis shoes
​Hair up or out of face
​Always bring water

 

The Actor’s Workshop

Monday 5:30-6:45

Ages 11 and above

*Must have at least 6 students enrolled

Develop your stage acting and audition skills in a fun and supportive environment through a variety of individual and ensemble exercises, including monologues, scenes, drama games, and devising. At the end of the term, students will have the opportunity to perform in a showcase along with the Musical Theatre students.
