The Visual Arts Preparatory Department of The Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts provides all ages with a range of visual art media and experiences. Classes include quality age appropriate instruction taught by qualified instructors. Children are encouraged to explore creative problem solving while adults enjoy revisiting artistic interests or learning a new skill through hands-on activities in a group atmosphere.

A total of 1,129 students have been honored for their academic achievement at Fairmont State University after completing the spring 2016 semester.

Dr. Christina Lavorata, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has released the Dean’s List and the President’s List to recognize high-achieving students for their academic distinction. Full-time students who earned a 3.4 or better grade point average are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time students achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average are named to the President’s List.

Rehearsals are under way for Fairmont State University’s Academy for the Arts Youth Company spring productions. This semester the Academy will be offering two shows for one evening of family fun. Disney’s “Winnie the Pooh Kids,” performed by local kindergarten through fifth graders, and “James and the Giant Peach,” performed by area sixth through 12th graders, take the stage on Wallman Hall from May 19 through May 22.
