Nursing graduates honored at pinning and award ceremony

The Fairmont State University School of Nursing honored its Class of 2019 nursing graduates with a Pinning and Awards Ceremony at the Feaster Center on May 9.

Those receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Associate of Science in Nursing were “pinned.” The pinning ceremony has been a long-held commencement tradition, symbolic of welcoming newly graduated nurses into the profession of nursing. The nursing faculty presents each graduate with a pin, marking the transition from student to professional nurse.

The following students were presented with awards for academic achievement: 

  • Highest GPA in the BSN program: Cassidy Berens
  • Highest GPA in the ASN Program: Cynthia Nixon
  • BSN Outstanding Student: Samantha Wolfe
  • ASN Outstanding Student: Serina Eakle
