Class of 2021 Graduate Profile: Tafara Ushendibaba

When Tafara Ushendibaba made the decision to attend Fairmont State to pursue a business degree in information systems management, he did so sight unseen. Thousands of miles across ocean waters separated the University’s campus from Ushendibaba’s home in Zimbabwe, but his older brother Tatenda and older sister Tendai, who had made their ways to Fairmont years earlier for their own educational pursuits, vouched for the school on the hilltop.  

FBLA high school students prepare for National Conference

Fairmont State University was visited by almost 100 West Virginia high school students for the Winners’ Circle event on Monday. This event is held for the students who are headed to the Future Business Leaders of America national conference in June.  

Jim Davis, assistant professor for the School of Business, said the Winners’ Circle is held in different places every year and was honored to have them on Fairmont’s campus this time.

Many of the awards and scholarships presented at the banquet were made possible through gifts to the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc.

Hutson Family Commits $400,000 for School of Business Scholarships

The couple, both Fairmont State University alumni and Harrison County West Virginia natives, have committed $400,000 to establish the Rusty & Kimberly Hutson Family Endowed Scholarship for the benefit of School of Business students.

FSU School of Business to establish student investment fund

The Fairmont State Foundation board recently approved a $100,000 gift from the estate of Wendell Hardway to establish a student investment fund that will give students in the School of Business marketable skills they could use long after graduation.

And the gift is one that the school hopes will continue to give year after year.
