As we near the end of Fall semester, we find ourselves in a sweet-spot of calm that lies peacefully between the warm but busy atmosphere of Homecoming and the often-hectic season of the holidays (and finals). This respite is a great time to reflect on Homecoming 2018 – doing so not only reminds us of where come from, but it also gives us insight as to where we’re going.

You can see it as you drive down I-79’s High Tech Corridor, where the splendor of nature abuts corporate and government complexes that house the latest in technology. Inaugural White Coat Ceremony held to honor Nursing students

Fairmont State University hosted its inaugural White Coat Ceremony for the School of Nursing as a new tradition to symbolize the move into clinical practice and providing compassionate care by nursing students. 

Dr. Laura Clayton, associate dean for the School of Nursing, said the White Coat Ceremony was something she wanted to bring to the University because of the symbolic importance. 

Fairmont State welcomes new and returning students with move-in, Welcome Weekend

Last week hundreds of Fairmont State University Falcon students moved into their new homes for the next several months with the help of faculty, staff, and students. 

President Dr. Mirta Martin was out working alongside them as they all meet the newest cast of Falcons with big smiles, Welcome Home tents, and a lot of help. Students, faculty, and staff worked diligently to unload cars and transport supplies to students’ rooms.

Diversified Gas & Oil Co., the Birmingham, AL, company whose chief executive officer and co-founder is Fairmont State University graduate Rusty Hutson Jr., has committed $30,000 in scholarships over the next three years to Fairmont State students.
