Fairmont State Student Researchers probe literary topics

The School of Humanities (formerly Language and Literature) is pleased to recognize the 2020 student recipients of the department’s Summer Research Program:  Maralisa Marra, Autumn Cox and Montana Richards.

Students receive a stipend for 6 weeks of dedicated work on an original research project under a Humanities faculty mentor of their choice.

Faculty collaboration results in musical publication

The Fairmont State University Department of Music is proud to announce that Dr. Daniel Eichenbaum, Associate Professor of Music, has released a publication of his composition, “Pacific”, by Trevco Music Publishing. “Pacific”, was commissioned and premiered by the PEN Trio and is a collaboration with Fairmont State Professor of English, Elizabeth Savage, whose poem of the same name inspired the piece.

Kestrel, Fairmont State University's professional literary and art journal, has received a grant from the West Virginia Humanities Council, according to Dr. Donna J. Long, the journal's editor.

Two Fairmont State University Department of Language and Literature faculty members will read from their work from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Joe N’ Throw, 323 ½ Adams St., Fairmont.

Donna J. Long and Elizabeth Savage both serve as editors of FSU’s Kestrel literary journal.
