The Fairmont State Foundation serves as the non-profit organization that solicits and administers private donations on behalf of Fairmont State University, and recently welcomed five new members to its Board of Directors. New Board of Directors members include Kathy Martin, K. Alex Miller, II, Chad Riley, John Wilson and Dixie Yann.

Fairmont State University Board of Governors Convenes In-Person

The Fairmont State University Board of Governors held its first in-person, full Board meeting since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic on Thursday, June 17 in the Falcon Center.

Following committee updates, Board members Dixie Yann and John Schirripa were recognized for their service to the University’s Board of Governors as the end of their term appointments approaches on June 30.

Fairmont State University Board of Governors have again voted to expand community-based theatre and music/choir programming and to discontinue academic programs in music and theatre, including music and theatre education during the June 18, 2020 meeting.

On Thursday, May 21, the Fairmont State Board of Governors (BoG) voted to enhance the community theater and music programs, including the programs provided by Academy of the Arts and discontinue the academic programs in theatre and music. These programs had been under review for consecutive years because neither academic program met minimum standards established by the WV Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) for continuation.

Board of Governors Chairwoman honored by Marion County Chamber of Commerce

Fairmont State University Board of Governors Chairwoman Dixie Yann was awarded the Rev. Squires Lifetime Achievement Award at the 66th Annual Marion County Chamber of Commerce Dinner. 

This achievement is the highest award the Chamber gives, Chamber President Tina Shaw said. Rev. Squires was the leader in giving back to the community and those presented with this award working to carry on that legacy.

Dr. Maria C. Rose, President of Fairmont State University, has notified the Fairmont State University Board of Governors that she plans to retire when her contract ends on June 30, 2017.

Two New Members Join FSU Board of Governors

West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed two new members to the Fairmont State University Board of Governors. John D. Myers of Cheat Lake and Dixie L. Yann of Fairmont joined the Board of Governors for its Feb. 16 meeting.
