The Fairmont State University Board of Governors convened on Thursday, July 7 with Board members and the executive leadership team joining both in the Falcon Center and virtually.

During the meeting, the Board approved new leadership for the upcoming year to include Chairman, Rusty Hutson, Vice-Chairman, David Goldberg, and Secretary, Jason Pizatella, to serve in officer roles through June 30, 2023.

On Friday, the Fairmont State University Board of Governors voted to enter negotiations to name current Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost, Dianna Phillips, as the University’s interim president.

The Fairmont State University Board of Governors met on Thursday, February 17, with representatives from the Board and the Fairmont State Executive Leadership Team convening both in the Falcon Center and virtually.  

Fairmont State University Board of Governors Chairman, David Goldberg, was named the inaugural recipient of the Francis H. Pierpont Visionary Award at the Marion County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner on Wednesday, August 11.

Fairmont State alumna, Jennifer Kinty, has been appointed to serve on the University’s Board of Governors through June 30, 2025. Kinty has longstanding ties with the University, and previously served as the Fairmont State Foundation Board of Directors Chairwoman.

The Fairmont State University Board of Governors held its first in-person, full Board meeting since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic on Thursday, June 17 in the Falcon Center.

Following committee updates, Board members Dixie Yann and John Schirripa were recognized for their service to the University’s Board of Governors as the end of their term appointments approaches on June 30.

Fairmont State University alumnus and Bridgeport native, Jason Henderson, has been appointed to serve on the University’s Board of Governors beginning July 1. Henderson currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer at Energy Transportation in Clarksburg.

On Thursday, April 15 the Fairmont State Board of Governors approved curriculum proposals from the Academic Affairs Committee to establish five additional areas of study for students.

The Fairmont State University Board of Governors has approved the annual evaluation of Fairmont State President, Mirta M. Martin, as she begins the second year of her three-year contract, renewed in 2020.
