Fairmont State University invites new students to attend upcoming orientation sessions

Fairmont State University prepares to welcome first-time freshmen and transfer students to campus for orientation. Over the summer, new students will have to opportunity to attend one of several orientation sessions. Some orientation sessions will be open to students of any major, but college-specific orientation sessions will take place also be available for those interested.

George Robert Tackett, a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, has created a scholarship for graduates of his alma mater wishing to attend Fairmont State University. Tackett gifted $26,000 to Fairmont State University to establish the G. Robert Tackett, Class of 1948 Scholarship Endowment.

Approximately 64 students from eight different high schools competed in the Science Showdown on Friday, February 24 at Fairmont State University. Students competed in a number of challenges pertaining to scientific topics like forensics, chemistry, physics, and biology.

Harrison County natives Seba T. and Lucille B. Anderson are honored in the creation of a new scholarship for students at Fairmont State University. The Seba T. and Lucille B. Anderson Endowed Scholarship, a gift of $144,600 was donated on behalf of the will of Lucille Anderson.
