The Inauguration of Fairmont State University’s 14th president, Dr. Maria C. Rose, took place on Aug. 25, 2012. The traditional Inauguration ceremony included greetings from state, community and campus dignitaries, as well as musical selections from the Fairmont State University Community Orchestra, the Collegiate Singers, Vocal Tapestry and a special solo by FSU student Anthony Errigo. Chancellor Paul L. Hill of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission delivered remarks. Ron Tucker, Chairman of the FSU Board of Governors, led the Investiture, bestowing the presidential medallion. During her Inaugural address, President Rose acknowledged her family for their support and pledged that Fairmont State will continue to rise to challenges in higher education, as it has done for almost 150 years. “We will continue to fulfill our mission by providing the best educational opportunities possible for all students,” Rose said.
