Construction on Charles Pointe location on schedule, to open mid-fall

In February, Fairmont State University entered a lease to occupy the second floor of the Greater Bridgeport Convention and Visitors Bureau in Charles Pointe. The University’s vision to be able to offer more options for nontraditional students in Harrison County through the leased space is coming to life.  

Dr. Richard Harvey, provost and vice president of academic affairs, said there are so many opportunities on the horizon with this space. 

FSU Students to Participate in Stream Cleanup Day

The City of Fairmont Utilities Stormwater Program will hold its sixth annual Stream Cleanup Day on Wednesday, April 12, in conjunction with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s 2017 Make It Shine program. Fairmont State University Construction Manager Stephanie Slaubaugh and about 15 FSU students plan to participate.

Student Volunteers Participate in Make Marion County Shine

More than 20 students and community volunteers participated in the Make Marion County Shine and state DEP cleanup on the Fairmont State University campus in Fairmont on Saturday, April 18.  The week also was National Volunteer Week. Organized by Stephanie Slaubaugh of the Physical Plant and Amy Drvar of the Office of Civic Engagement, the volunteers picked up 12 trash bags of litter in about two hours.

Campus Lights Turn Blue for Autism Awareness

During the month of April, Fairmont State University is maroon and white – and blue – because of one family’s effort to raise awareness about autism. Corey Cleavenger, a sophomore at FSU majoring in Biology/Chemistry, had a bright idea and approached the Physical Plant that maintains the shared main campus of FSU and Pierpont Community & Technical College.
