As you crest the top step in the Falcon Center and look into the third floor Dining Hall, the first person you are likely to see is 24-year Dining Services veteran Carolyn Straight. With her blond hair and bright smile, she serves students during breakfast, lunch, and dinner and knows most everyone by name.

Cinda Ewing, Payroll Manager for Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College, was awarded the prestigious Ken Fuhrman Memorial EPICS award at the annual West Virginia State Auditor’s Office conference, held at Snowshoe Resort from September 20-23, 2011.  Ewing is the first FSU employee to receive the award.

The Celebration of Ideas Lecture Series at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College brings nationally prominent speakers of diverse viewpoints to campus each fall and spring.

Martin A. “Monty” Burdoff met with officials from Fairmont State University and the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc. for the official signing of a donor agreement that will provide funding for renovations and upgrades to the Falcon Center in memory of his son, Dustin Burdoff. 

A professor walks by a bench on the main Fairmont State University campus where Jamie Colanero is taking a rare time-out. She says, “This place looks like an estate!” Colanero says that compliments like that keep him and his crew in the Physical Plant and Road and Grounds Department motivated. “We want our visitors’ first impression to be ‘Wow, this is nice,’ ” he says. 

Fairmont State University has named Cynthia Sherbs Curry as the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources and Campus/Community Relations. The position also provides services to Pierpont Community & Technical College.

Eight Fairmont State University employees were honored during the annual Retiree Reception. Faculty, staff, retired FSU and Pierpont Community & Technical College employees and the community gathered in the Turley Center Ballroom to honor 2010-2011 retirees.
