Fairmont State University will host the West Virginia Foreign Language Teachers Association conference on Sept. 28-29. Foreign language teachers from across the state, representing a variety of world languages and grade levels, will attend the annual meeting, which focuses this year on building empathy through ownership.

Nine students from Fairmont State University will travel to New York from May 13-19, 2012, with Dr. Julie Sellers for the very first immersion-style experience within the borders of the United States that the university has offered.

FSU Professor becomes West Virginia’s first certified court interpreter

Dr. Julie Sellers, assistant professor of Spanish at Fairmont State University, is West Virginia’s first certified court interpreter. The Mountaineer State is just beginning its interpreter certification program, and Dr. Sellers, a federally certified court interpreter, is granted certification through reciprocity. She is also certified in the states of Colorado and Pennsylvania.

 Fairmont State University will host the West Virginia Foreign Language Teachers Association conference on Sept. 30-Oct. 1, 2011. Foreign language teachers from across the state and representing a variety of world languages and grade levels will attend this annual meeting, which focuses this year on Fostering a Culture of Global Proficiency.
