Fairmont State Hosts Post-Election Forum on Nov. 15

Fairmont State will host a Post-Election Forum to foster discussion regarding the recent Presidential election and how the country can move forward toward healing our very divided electorate.

The event will take place at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Ruth Ann Musick Library Multi-media Room A.

Service of Lessons and Carols to Ring in Holiday Season

The Fairmont State University Community Chorus and the Cambridge Handbell Choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont will present a traditional Service of Lessons and Carols at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the First Presbyterian Church, 301 Jackson St., Fairmont. The program is free and open to the public. A goodwill offering will be collected.

Fete de Noel a Musical Holiday Celebration at FSU

The Fairmont State University Department of Music will present the fifth annual Fête de Noël holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in Colebank Hall.

Tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for senior adults and FSU faculty/staff and free for students and children. For tickets or more information, contact the Fairmont State Box Office at (304) 367-4240. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Early Music Ensemble Named 2016-17 Artists-in-Residence

Fairmont State University has named the Alkemie early music ensemble as the 2016-2017 Artists-in-Residence. The ensemble will visit campus twice over the academic year, performing concerts of early music, giving university-wide lectures and working individually with students.

Public Reading of "It Can't Happen Here" Planned for Oct. 24

On Monday, Oct. 24, the Fairmont State University Department of Communication and Theatre Arts and Department of Language and Literature will host a free public reading of the new stage adaptation of “It Can’t Happen Here,” based on the 1935 novel written by Sinclair Lewis.

Sculpture Exhibit by Glenn Zweygardt on Display

The Fairmont State University Department of Art will host the solo sculpture exhibition by Glenn Zweygardt.

The JD Brooks Gallery, located on the fourth floor of Wallman Hall on the main FSU campus, is open Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The exhibition will run from Oct. 10 through Nov. 9. An opening reception and gallery talk will take place at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call (304) 367-4147.

"Women's Voices: Memory in Motion" Explores Life Before Title IX

“Women’s Voices: Memory in Motion,” an evening of stories about love, injustice, tenacity and survival, opens in September at Fairmont State University. Created by students working under the direction of Dr. Francene Kirk, the original theatre piece is based on interviews with women who are age 55 and older.
