The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and Masquers theatre group will present Bernard Pomerance’s "The Elephant Man," directed by Jeffrey Ingman, on two consecutive weekends: Sept. 23, 24 and 25 and Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. in Wallman Hall Theatre with the exception of Sunday, Sept 25, which is a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the Box Office at (304) 367-4240.

Auditions Planned for Production of "Cabaret"

Auditions are planned for the Fairmont State University Town & Gown Theatre production of “Cabaret” based on the book written by Christopher Isherwood. The production will be presented in November at Wallman Hall Theatre.

Grant Helps School of Fine Arts Fund New Kilns for Ceramics Program

A grant from the George W. Bowers Family Charitable Trust will allow the Fairmont State University Department of Art to purchase modern and energy-efficient kilns for its growing Ceramics program.

 Fans of musicals will not want to miss Fairmont State University’s production of “Annie Get Your Gun” at the newly remodeled amphitheatre at Prickett’s Fort State Park. The School of Fine Arts Town & Gown Players will present the Irving Berlin classic at 8 p.m. July 14, 15 and 16. Due to popular demand, an additional performance has been added for 8 p.m. July 17. Tickets are $12 each and may be purchased by calling the Box Office at (304) 367-4240.

"A Grand Night for Singing" on Wallman Hall Stage This Month

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “A Grand Night for Singing” is the second production of the 2011 Town & Gown summer season. Created 30 years after Rodgers and Hammerstein’s last hit show, “A Grand Night for Singing” is a musical revue featuring the collaborators’ best known songs and was an instant hit on Broadway in 1994.

Winners of M.M. Neely Persuasive Speaking Contest Announced

Fairmont State University has announced the winners of the annual M.M. Neely Persuasive Speaking Contest. The first place winner was Kady Fenske, who is a Communication major from Moundsville. Her topic was “Closing Puppy Mills.”Second place went to Jerry Reames, a Pre-Med major from Clarksburg. His topic was “Porn Addiction.”The third place winner was Marianne Jenkins, a Graphics Technology major from Grafton. Her topic was “Home Schooling.”
