“Nature of West Virginia Life:” Presidential Lecture Planned for Oct. 25

Dr. Stephen B. Jones, interim president at Fairmont State University, will present his lecture “Nature of West Virginia Life” at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the West Virginia Folklife Center.

 A forester and doctoral level applied ecologist by education, Jones believes that every lesson for living, learning, serving, and leading is either written indelibly in or is powerfully inspired by Nature. He will speak to harnessing the power, passion and wisdom of Nature.

Dr. Maria C. Rose, President of Fairmont State University, has notified the Fairmont State University Board of Governors that she plans to retire when her contract ends on June 30, 2017.

Governor Visits Campus, Encourages Students to Take Safe Driver Pledge

FAIRMONT, W.Va. -Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today spoke to Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community and Technical College students about the importance of his new legislation banning texting and handheld cellphone use while driving.  He also encouraged the students to take his safe driver pledge.
