The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts is presenting a variety of upcoming musical events, which are free and open to the public.

The Fairmont State University Community Orchestra will present a free concert on Sunday, Nov. 7, featuring the music of Mozart, Lully, Faure and Beethoven.

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra will perform on the Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College main campus in Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, in Colebank Hall. With the theme "Valentina Returns," the concert features pianist Valentina Lisitsa.

Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College Student Government is hosting a free symphony concert, open to the general public.

Through Sept. 30, Fairmont State University's Community Music Program for Children and Adults will be accepting fall 2010 registration for private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, woodwinds, brass, percussion, improvisation, music theory and composition.

The Fairmont State University Collegiate Singers and Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Sam Spears, and the FSU Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Valarie Huffman, will present a joint concert on Thursday, March 11.

Fairmont State University's Collegiate Singers and Chamber Choir will perform a concert at the First Presbyterian Church, located at the corner of Jackson and Jefferson Streets in downtown Fairmont, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28.
