The Fairmont State University Department of Music will present a benefit dinner recital at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Noteworthy Sweets.

“Attendees will dine on a sumptuous feast while being entertained by Fairmont State’s top musicians. This elegant benefit will help support an elaborate production of Handel’s ‘Messiah’ this December, part of the Sesquicentennial celebration of Fairmont State University,” said Dr. Sam Spears, Fairmont State Director of Choirs.

Department of Music to Host Presentation by Multimedia Artist

The Fairmont State University Department of Music will host a presentation by multimedia artist Dr. Brigid Burke at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 6, at the Wallman Hall auditorium.

The program for the concert will include new multimedia works and compositions realized by Marshall University faculty members Steven Hall and Mark Zanter with choreography/dance by Jessica Lynn Fox. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call (304) 367-4219.

Dieter Hennings to Present Lute Concert on March 13

WV Symphony Orchestra to Perform on Campus Feb. 26

Guest Pianist to Visit Campus in February

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts announces the campus residency of pianist Kari Johnson on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13 and 14, which will include a public performance and masterclasses. 

Johnson will perform a recital of contemporary and classical piano repertoire at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in Colebank Hall. Tickets for the recital are $10 and may be purchased in advance through the Fairmont State Box Office at (304) 367-4240 or at the door.

Department of Music Presents Fete de Noel Holiday Concert

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts Department of Music will present the annual Fete de Noel Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, in Colebank Hall.

A dessert reception will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission; $5 for those age 65 and older, faculty and staff; and free for students. For more information, call the Box Office at (304) 367-4240.

Music on the Hill Guest Artist Series Begins Sept. 19

The Fairmont State University Department of Music kicks off its new Music on the Hill Guest Artist Series with a performance this week.

Dr. Janice Haworth will present the first concert of the series at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in Wallman Hall Theatre. Her presentation will include photos and videos of life and music in Guinea, where she spent two years, as well as performances by FSU’s Percussion and World Percussion ensembles.

FSU to Host First West Fork New Music Festival

Fairmont State University will host the inaugural West Fork New Music Festival on campus on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and Sept. 13. Guest composers and performers from West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia and Pennsylvania will attend.

The Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts is accepting registrations for fall classes and private lessons in art, music and theatre. Classes and lessons begin the week of Sept. 2.
