WV Folklife Center Commemorates Battle of Blair Mountain 100th Anniversary

The Fairmont State University Frank and Jane Gabor WV Folklife Center will host Dr. William Hal Gorby to commemorate an important time in West Virginia’s history through discussions around the labor struggles that led to the Battle of Blair Mountain, as the 100th anniversary of the battle approaches. The event is free and open to the public, and will take place on Monday, August 23 at 7 p.m. at the Folklife Center.

Fairmont State Alumnus Returns to the Olympic Games in Tokyo

Former Fairmont State University football standout and 2013 criminal justice graduate, Perry Baker, will compete on the world’s most esteemed stage next week in the Tokyo Summer Olympics as a member of the USA Men’s Rugby Sevens Team. Baker is slated to make a second appearance in the Olympic Games after receiving the nod in 2016 and competing in the Rio Games.
